Janet Quigley, new PSA President

The Public Service Association is delighted to announce Janet Quigley has been elected President by its two-yearly Congress meeting.

Ms Quigley works as a health promoter at Community and Public Health in Timaru, and has been a workplace delegate for many years.

She has held a number of governance roles within the PSA, including Executive Board member and vice President.

"I’m looking forward to getting out and meeting members from all the PSA’s sectors," Ms Quigley says.

"It will be great to work with our Maori members in Te Runanga and work with them to incorporate Nga Kaupapa into our day-to-day work as a union.

"It’s a very exciting time for the union with the Equal Pay and the Stand Together campaigns.

"Stand Together highlights the real work our members do in their communities, and will tell voters how valuable the work of public servants is to making New Zealand a great place to live.

"I’m thrilled to have won, and I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead."

Ms Quigley replaces Mike Tana, who has been PSA president since 2012.
