Newshub Reveals Trump’s Women Comments in 1993 Interview

Newshub Reveals Trump’s Women Comments in 1993 Interview: “It’s Fortunate I Don’t Have to Run for Political Office”

Newshub, New Zealand’s leading news service, has uncovered comments by U.S. Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump saying that his views on women should prevent him from running for political office.

Visiting New Zealand in 1993 as part of a consortium bidding for a casino operator's licence, Trump spoke with TV3 News (now Newshub). In the interview, Trump was asked about his image as a womanising tycoon.

In his response, Trump said: “I think women are beautiful – I think certain women are more beautiful than others, to be perfectly honest – and it's fortunate I don't have to run for political office.”

The comments were uncovered by Newshub Political Editor Patrick Gower, who discovered the interview tape in the Newshub archives.

“Donald Trump declared his sexist views on women would disqualify him from political office,” said Gower. “Trump’s comment now stands out as a blunt assessment of himself, with the continual exposure of his aggressive sexist attitude and actions now derailing his Presidential campaign.”

The footage was released at 11AM (NZT) on Newshub’s digital news site at: http://www.newshub.co.nz/politics/donald-trump-nz-tape-reveals-sexist-comments-he-made-in-1993-2016101010

Gower will provide more detailed analysis and coverage on TV3’s Newshub Live at 6PM television bulletin tonight (NZT).
