Congratulations to Labour on Thousand Extra Police Officers

Sensible Sentencing Trust Congratulates Labour on Thousand Extra Police Officers

13th October 2016

Labour has today announced it will provide $180 million of funding for an extra thousand police officers, if they get into power at the next elections.

The SST have long advocated for more resources to be allocated to Police, to assist in stemming the rising tide of criminal activity. Police resources have been and are stretched far too thinly and this allows the criminal fraternity to commit more crimes, therefore creating further victims. “Putting the focus on victims of crimes such as sexual violence is a positive step in the right direction, and we totally support this move” Garth McVicar, Founder of SST

Methamphetamines are a scourge on society and SST believe they are a big contributor to crime which must be tackled, along with the rise in gang crime, so a focus on stamping out the methamphetamine trade, is to be applauded.

“Public safety and reducing the level of victimisation must be paramount”. McVicar. ENDS
