#1 International Futurist to Speak in New Zealand

#1 INTERNATIONAL FUTURIST TO SPEAK IN NEW ZEALAND
For Immediate Release

17th November 2016

The world’s top ranked futurist (by Google) Thomas Frey will be in New Zealand this Monday (21 November) to discuss what the digital future will hold.
Sponsored by Vodafone, Thomas is travelling from the United States to be the keynote speaker for the Association of Local Government Information Management (ALGIM) Annual Conference, a gathering of all the Councils from across the country.

The founder and leader of the Da Vinci Institute, Thomas has built an enormous following around the world based on his impressively accurate visions of the future and its opportunities. No 'guesses in the dark', Thomas offers detailed explanations of the driving forces influencing changing trends, as well as insightful understanding of the wide-spread implications they will have on a global and every-day level. He has given talks across the globe alongside Nobel Peace Prize winners, Presidents, CEOs, Prime Ministers and World Bank Presidents, and when not speaking he regularly works with Fortune 500 companies.

“We are beyond excited to have Thomas join us at this event, it’s going to be a once in a lifetime talk to listen to,” says ALGIM Chief Executive Mike Manson. “I was lucky enough to listen to Thomas four years ago in Chicago and I have watched 100% of what he discussed come to fruition, it’s truly phenomenal.”

On his interest in New Zealand, Thomas’ commented that New Zealand has opportunities ahead. “With many of today's emerging technologies, we're creating a new starting line for entire new industries. And New Zealand has the opportunity to take the lead in several of these newly minted industries."
Manson is driven to see a connect form between New Zealand’s potential and Local Government. “Bringing an expert in future-thinking to work with our Councils will help them better service their ratepayers and lead New Zealand into the digital future.”

ALGIM serves the entirety of the New Zealand Local Government ICT sector, with all 78 Councils as members. The ALGIM Annual Conference is their flagship event and will be held 21 – 23 November at SKYCITY Convention Centre Auckland
