Right to Life on Petition of Family Planning

Government Rejects Petition of Family Planning to Decriminalise Killing of Unborn

10th December 2016

Right to Life commends the Minister of Justice Amy Adams for rejecting a petition sponsored by Family Planning to “legalise abortion in New Zealand.”

Right to Life makes no apology for speaking up in defence of women and the right to life of the unborn child, the weakest and most defenceless member of the human family. At conception, the child is a unique and unrepeatable miracle of creation. It is the privilege and duty of the mother of the child to love, protect and nurture her child and not to kill it.

Abortion is violence against women and her child in the womb, it is not a health service. It is a violation of the inalienable right to life of the child. This misguided petition is a continuation of the war on women. There were 13,155 New Zealand children killed in the womb in 2015, nearly 6,500 of these children were female. We should mourn at their destruction and the loss to our community. How many of them would have grown up to make a major contribution to our community? How many would have become mothers and had their own children? They were destroyed because they were deemed to be of little worth and their presence an inconvenience.

The most dangerous place for a woman today is in her mother’s womb.

When will women realise that the slogan a “woman’s right to choose” is a cruel lie that has been inflicted on women by Family Planning. At the moment of conception the woman becomes a mother. The only choice she has is to have a live baby or a dead baby. It is insulting to women to tell them that having an abortion is some kind of privilege and her sad and onerous duty is garbed in the rhetoric of being a human right.

The abortion law is in the Crimes Act because the State has a duty to protect the lives of the unborn, our future citizens. It is a serious crime to kill an unborn child. Family Planning denies the existence of the child in the womb and a bearer of human rights. It denies that the killing of the child is a crime against humanity. Family Planning protests that recognising the murder of the unborn as a crime has a stigma. The stigma associated with the shedding of innocent blood cannot be dispelled by pretending that it is a health service.

Family Planning continue to repeat the falsehood that the Convention on the Elimination of all Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), upholds abortion as a human right.

There is absolutely nothing in the Convention that makes that claim. This myth is perpetuated by the 34 person United Nations CEDAW Committee whose agenda is to expand abortion ‘rights’.

Right to Life shares the anger of Sarah Batkin the front person for this petition, at the plight of women who are the victims of the sexual revolution promoted by Family Planning. A revolution which promotes promiscuity.which has separated sexual intercourse from procreation and offers abortion as a backup for failed contraception. Women and men are truly free when they are chaste before marriage and faithful after marriage. Our women deserve better than being lied to.

Gordon Campbell: On Dune 2, And Images Of Islam

Depictions of Islam in Western popular culture have rarely been positive, even before 9/11. Five years on from the mosque shootings, this is one of the cultural headwinds that the Muslim community has to battle against. Whatever messages of tolerance and inclusion are offered in daylight, much of our culture tends to be hostile to Islam when we’re sitting in the dark, with popcorn.
Any number of movie examples come to mind, beginning with Rudolf Valentino’s role (over a century ago) as the romantic Arab hero in The Sheik...
