Mt Roskill by-Election Official Results

The Electoral Commission has released the official results for the 3 December Parliamentary by-election in the electorate of Mt Roskill.

In the 2016 Mt Roskill by-election there were:

• 46,159 people enrolled.

• A total of 17,755 votes cast.

• 5,133 advance votes.

• 902 special votes, including 39 overseas votes.

The winning candidate majority was 6,852 votes.

Voter turnout for the 2016 Mt Roskill by-election was 38.5% of the 46,159 people enrolled.

The Electoral Commission expects to return the writ showing the successful candidate on Tuesday 20 December 2016 (assuming no recounts).

The results by voting place are available from www.electionresults.govt.nz.

Background

The official results for the 2016 Mt Roskill by-election held on Saturday 3 December 2016 have been determined in accordance with the electoral legislation. The results are subject to any applications for judicial recounts.

The scrutiny of the rolls has been completed and the master roll for the Mt Roskill electorate has been prepared. All votes cast on election night have been recounted and balanced and special votes have been checked for eligibility before being counted. This has been done in the presence of a Justice of the Peace.
