Statement on Metiria Turei resignation
Statement on Metiria Turei resignation
9 AUGUST
2017
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Responding to the
resignation of Metiria Turei, Jordan Williams, a former
member of the Green Party (now Taxpayers’ Union Executive
Director) says:
“While it is always sad to see a senior politician fall from grace, Ms Turei’s resignation does not avail her from the debt owed to New Zealand taxpayers. With more and more evidence coming out that Ms Turei should not have even been on the BPD at the time in question, it appears she owes taxpayers at least $57,096 – three years of the DPB converted to today’s dollars.”
“When Claudette Hauiti resigned from Parliament, she still paid back taxpayers for her misspending. So should Ms Turei. Now.”
