Statement on Metiria Turei resignation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE


Responding to the resignation of Metiria Turei, Jordan Williams, a former member of the Green Party (now Taxpayers’ Union Executive Director) says:

“While it is always sad to see a senior politician fall from grace, Ms Turei’s resignation does not avail her from the debt owed to New Zealand taxpayers. With more and more evidence coming out that Ms Turei should not have even been on the BPD at the time in question, it appears she owes taxpayers at least $57,096 – three years of the DPB converted to today’s dollars.”

“When Claudette Hauiti resigned from Parliament, she still paid back taxpayers for her misspending. So should Ms Turei. Now.”
