Green’s must reveal fiscal hand before polls open on Monday
The Green Party promise to produce a fully costed, independently reviewed alternative budget is pointless unless it is released prior to polls opening on Monday, says the Taxpayers’ Union.
Mac Mckenna, an economist at the Taxpayers’ Union, says, "We’ve previously applauded the Green Party’s transparency, awarding them five stars as part of our policy-costing Bribe-O-Meter. However, with early voting opening on Monday, it is time the Green’s show voters what they are getting themselves in for."
“We have been impressed with Green Party costings so far. Each policy has been well detailed with relatively accurate fiscal impacts. However, voters deserve to know the full extent of the Green Party’s policies before they head to the ballot box.”
“While the Greens may slip a notch, they are still miles ahead of New Zealand First. New Zealand First has failed to produce properly costed individual policies let alone a fully costed alternative budget.”
