Green Party Targets Undecided Nelson Voters

The Green Party is targeting undecided voters with its final public meeting of the Nelson election campaign at River Kitchen this Wednesday night.

The event entitled ‘20 Great Reasons to Vote Lawrey and Green’ will be a chance to hear Nelson candidate Matt Lawrey state his case for why the party needs to be part of the next government and why he’s the best choice to be Nelson’s next MP.

“If people want a Labour-Green Government, the best thing they can do is Party Vote Green. Anything else risks us ending up with a Labour-New Zealand First Government,” he said.

“If people want a new MP, they should vote for the candidate with the best chance of beating Nick Smith. One with the skills, energy, ideas, personality, experience, networks and passion to make a positive change for Nelson, and from what a lot of people are telling us, including Labour and National voters, that candidate is me.”

Lawrey said one of the reasons he’s feeling confident going into the election on Saturday is the “brilliant” response from the public to the events the Nelson campaign has been running throughout the year.

“We got the biggest crowd of the campaign to our national launch at the Trafalgar Centre, we’ve had three sold out movie nights and standing room only events with visiting MPs and candidates. We even entered the Nelson Trolley Derby and beat Nick Smith in the last race of the day, which, it has to be said, was great fun. It’s been a lot of work but we’ve loved the way Nelsonians have responded.”

Referring to the event’s title, Lawrey says there are far more than 20 reasons to vote Green this election but Wednesday’s meeting will focus on the top reasons both locally and nationally to go two ticks Green.

River Kitchen’s bar will be open and snacks will be available to buy. The event kicks off at 5.30pm.
