From: Bernadette Pereira, National President of PACIFICA INC

Date: 23 October 2017

PRESS RELEASE:

National President PACIFICA congratulates Prime Minister-elect Jacinda Ardern and four Pacific Cabinet Ministers

“I wish to acknowledge and warmly congratulate Labour leader Jacinda Ardern, our Prime Minister-elect and the new coalition government with NZ First and the Greens Party. Jacinda has done a magnificent job and we look forward to the changes that her government will bring,” National President of PACIFICA Inc, Bernadette Pereira said.

The PACIFICA President also congratulated the four Pacific cabinet Ministers in government: veteran MP Aupito William Sio, Carmel Sepuloni, Jenny Salesa and Kris Fa’afoi who achieved large majorities in their electorates.

It is a proud moment for the Pacific community in general and many will be celebrating this success considering their loyalty and support of the Labour Party since the 1950s.

Ms Pereira also said she was confident that the Prime Minister-elect would lead with compassion and integrity towards improving the general well-being of all New Zealanders, including delivering better outcomes for Pacific families. She also wished Ms Adern and her Pacific Ministers well with the challenges ahead in the next 3 years.
