Re-renaming children’s ministry is political vanity

Re-renaming children’s ministry is political vanity

18 JANUARY 2018
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Taxpayers’ Union is accusing both National and the new Government of vanity for yet again renaming the Ministry for Children.

Taxpayers’ Union Executive Director Jordan Williams says, “National and New Zealand First's Tracey Martin are now both guilty of fiddling with an important ministry for their own political vanity.”

“National’s rebrand of the ministry last year cost $418,000. How much will it cost this time?”

“We pay tax so that this ministry can help needy kids, not throw money at its marketing department.”

“The minister even admits that the change is only ‘symbolic’. Here’s news for her: vulnerable kids don’t care about symbols. It won't make a smidge of difference to the children relying on government services.”
