The New Zealand Taxpayers Union joins top New Zealand physicists in warning against wasting up to $25 million on a telescope array in Australia and South Africa.
Taxpayers’ Union Executive Director Jordan Williams says, “This is a massive cost – the same spent on the flag referendum – from which taxpayers will see nothing.”
“New Zealand’s leading physicists say this is a bad use of money, and that the project could be obsolete by the time it’s completed in 2030.”
“This is just a taxpayer-funded make-work scheme for those in the scientific fields. If we’re going to do that, let’s at least spent the money in New Zealand.”
