Working Group Fees Just Foreplay
Working Group Fees Just Foreplay
The real cost of the
Government’s working groups will come later, as special
interest groups propose corporate and union welfare, says
the New Zealand Taxpayers’ Union.
Taxpayers’ Union spokesperson Louis Houlbrooke says “The common theme of these groups is an unholy alliance between unions, business, and special interest groups. Without taxpayer representatives, the inevitable conclusion is more taxpayer-funded subsidies for everyone involved.”
“The sad reality is that when a union representative suggests an expensive perk, business representatives find it easier to argue for their own corporate welfare than to push back.”
“Groups like the ‘Digital Economy Digital Inclusion Advisory Group’ will inevitably propose industry subsidies. These panels are quickly turning into a bunfight for taxpayers’ money."
