Greens congratulated for transparency

MEDIA RELEASE
Greens congratulated for transparency

24 JULY 2018
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The New Zealand Taxpayers’ Union congratulates the Green Party’s decision to proactively release Ministerial diaries.

Taxpayers' Union spokesman Louis Houlbrooke says, “Considering this type of information is technically already available on request under official information laws, it’s a no-brainer to cut out the admin costs and release it proactively.”

More transparency is a core focus of the Taxpayers’ Union, along with lower taxes and less waste. Transparency around who ministers are cosy with will help to reveal who is really behind government hand-outs or special treatment.”

“This move from the Greens puts serious pressure on their colleagues in Labour and New Zealand First to do the same. If it’s feasible for some Ministers, why not others?”
