HiFX Data Update - NZ Trade Balance (Jul) Release

The NZ Trade Balance for July has just been released.

They came in better than expected:

NZ Trade Balance:

Trade Balance (Jul) $143mio deficit Consensus $400mio deficit
- Imports (Jul) $5.49io Consensus $5.20bio
- Exports (Jul) $5.35bio Consensus $4.76bio

Trade Balance Year to June $4.44bio deficit - consensus $4.52bio deficit.

The year to July Trade Balance (deficit) is the worst since March 2009.

The NZD is marginally higher in immediate response.

Current indicative rates are:

NZD-USD 0.6625 / 0.6650
NZD-AUD 0.9140 / 0.9165
NZD-EUR 0.5735 / 0.5760
NZD-GBP 0.5165 / 0.5190
NZD-JPY 73.75 / 74.00
