Hangaia he ao reo Māori: Building a Māori speaking world

MEDIA RELEASE

10 September 2018

Aurecon staff across Aotearoa are leading initiatives to celebrate Te Wiki O Te Reo Māori says Carl Devereux, Aurecon’s Regional Director – New Zealand.

“One of Aurecon’s guiding principles is to build a positive legacy within the communities we work and live in: He taonga mō apōpō,” said Mr Devereux.

“Te reo Māori is a national treasure for all of us to celebrate and strengthen for future generations of Kiwis. Our company is proud to celebrate te reo not just annually but as part of how we work.”

Staff across New Zealand offices are hosting a range of te reo events, some of which will continue across the year. For the first time, this year Aurecon will be taking part in the annual Māori Language hikoi in the capital while speakers from mana whenua iwi will be hosted at Aurecon offices nationwide.

“As a global engineering and infrastructure advisory company, we are in the business of building things. Something we are proud to help build is a future where more New Zealanders speak and celebrate te reo Māori,” said Mr Devereux.

“Build a Māori speaking world: Hangaia he ao reo Māori. Kia kaha te reo Māori!”.
