Taxpayers’ Union Executive Director Jordan Williams wishes to express his sadness with the passing of government transparency advocate Penny Bright.

He says, “While our politics are poles apart, Penny had a fearless drive for more transparency and accountability in public finances that I admired. Over recent years we became unlikely friends.”

“While the Taxpayers' Union doesn’t endorse her refusal to pay rates, Penny's belief in the cause was genuine."

"Ever hard-hitting, but fun and respectful, Penny was sort of activist that ensures democracy is healthy.”
