Open Letter to Rt. Hon. Winston Peters
Kia ora,
In response to the news published by NZR on January 27th standing that 'NZ will not give official recognition to one side in Venezuelan crisis', the Venezuelan community of New Zealand wrote a public letter to Rt Hon. Winston Peters, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Unfortunately, these days in Venezuela, the regime's violence rises at the same pace than the prices.
The figures of illegal arrests expressed in our first communication were highly surpassed overnight.
Like if their captors were using fishing nets, seventy-seven kids, aged 12 to 16, have been illegally taken among the 850 youth demonstrators imprisoned by Maduro's security forces since January 21st. At least forty-five protesters have been killed during the same time.
Consequently, we addressed a new letter to Mr. Peters. You can find a copy of this last one as attachment.
At this point, we would highly appreciate a categorical condemnation of Maduro's atrocities against a disarmed population from the New Zealand Government.
We hope you can help us to reach a wider audience.
Kia ora rawa atu.
Maria Ayala
