Taxpayers’ Union to stand candidate for Greater Wellington

Taxpayers’ Union to stand candidate for Greater Wellington Regional Council

1 APRIL 2019
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New Zealand Taxpayers’ Union mascot Porky the Waste-hater will stand for the Greater Wellington Regional Council in this year’s local elections.

“Wellington’s failing bus network has seriously hindered Porky’s efforts in fighting government waste,” translates Taxpayers’ Union Executive Director Jordan Williams on behalf of Porky.

“Porky arrived in the office late today just one day out from the launch of a major campaign against the proposed capital gains tax. Apparently he became waterlogged while stranded at his Karori Rd bus stop.”

“Porky, as both a concerned Wellington ratepayer and public transport enthusiast, believes his ruined suede is proof that the Regional Council cannot be trusted with the revenue from its proposed 15 percent rate hike.”

Porky will launch his campaign with a sausage sizzle outside the Council offices next Monday.
