John Key caught out lying about credit downgrade

Prime Minister John Key is not only in denial about New Zealand's credit downgrade but he is also lying to New Zealanders for nasty political motives says Mana Economic Justice spokesperson John Minto.

"John Key claimed last week that he was told by ratings agency Standard and Poor's that future credit downgrades were more likely with a change of Government. Today Standard and Poor's flatly contradicted the Prime Minister. They said it wasn't true.

Instead of scaremongering about a new government the Prime Minister should come clean and admit his poor economic mismanagement is to blame for the credit downgrade.

"Mana is tired of a Prime Minister who won't front up on the hard issues of economic credibility but is happy to talk about his cat or Coronation Street timeslots on Radio Live!"
