Call for Greens to come clean

“It’s about time the Greens explained why they are playing along with government’s clandestine negotiations aimed at handing control of New Zealand’s coastal areas to Maori corporate interests in return for Maori Party support in Parliament” according to DSC health spokesman David Tranter.

“While the Democrats for Social Credit Party endorses the Green Party’s opposition to the government’s secret TPPA negotiations threatening Pharmac’s role as a purchaser of low cost drugs,

Greens co-leader Dr. Russel Norman’s call for John Key to be “absolutely clear with the New Zealand public before the election” about Pharmac and the TPPA should be extended to the foreshore and seabed.

“Since the Greens must have known for some time that substantial sections of the TPPA negotiations were against New Zealand’s interests it would appear that their current position is motivated more by election campaign tactics than genuine concern for New Zealanders’ well-being, Mr. Tranter said.

“In contrast the DSC has been putting out warning statements about the TPPA negotiations for some time.

“Given the huge importance of the foreshore and seabed it has to be asked why the Greens are not opposing government’s underhand dealings in this matter which threaten to hand control over access to beaches and minerals (out to the 12 mile limit) to Maori, and are blatantly racist in nature.

“The Greens must be aware that apart from the Maori corporate agendas on the foreshore and seabed, under wahi tapu local iwi will be able to declare practically any site they choose to be closed to the public. Anyone seeking further information on these matters should read Dr. Hugh Barr’s book, “The Gathering Storm over the Foreshore and Seabed”, Mr Tranter said.

“The DSC is implacably opposed to race-based legislation on this or any other issue and call on the Greens to come clean with the public before the elections, Mr. Tranter concluded.
