Bail: Another family devastated by Bail balls-up joins Christie campaign

Parents of High Profile "Body in The Garage" murder victim Dean Browne which last year saw them spend 6 1/2 weeks attending the Trial of his murderers in the New Plymouth High Court have thrown their 100% support and commitment behind the Christies Law campaign to see a review and tightening up of Bail Laws for serious crime in New Zealand.

Ron & Faye Bishop were horrified in April 2010 when 18 yr old Karl Nuku was granted bail for the alleged murder of their son. Even though at the time of the bail application being made that there was more than sufficient evidence to prove that he was one of the killers of their son they were horrified that he was still allowed to be set free. More to the point, they were outraged and disgusted to find that current legislation allowed for bail to be granted for anyone, irrespective of the charges laid, if they were under 20yrs of age and as such it was automatically granted. The reason told to them to justify this so called "right to the younger accused" was to protect the 'young' criminals so that they were neither influenced nor corrupted by 'hardened criminals' whilst on remand!

Both Ron and Faye encourage ALL law abiding and honest citizens of New Zealand irrespective of their ethnicity to rally around and give their support to this overwhelmingly and much needed Law Change. "Please don't be complacent and simply wait until serious crime affects you or your immediate family" pleaded Dean's mother Faye. "Like us who never thought that it could ever happen to our family, it just could be your turn to receive that 'knock on the door' and, at any time in the near future said Dean's father Ron Bishop who has set up the Sensiblestuff.co.nz website to give ongoing support to Anne & Garth McVicar and the Sensible Sentencing Trust of New Zealand.

The Sensible Sentencing Trust of NZ is , "A self funded action group totally committed to making New Zealand a safer place to live for all honest Law Abiding New Zealanders!" said Ron. "So don't be complacent and wait until it happens to you (like we did)", said Faye, "just get behind and support SST now" said a still grieving mother; Faye Bishop.
