Shippers’ Council congratulates Government on TPP outcome
6 October 2015
The Chairman of
the New Zealand Shippers’ Council today congratulated
Trade Minister Tim Groser and his negotiating team for
achieving an outcome to the TPP negotiation in Atlanta.
“This outcome is substantially positive for New Zealand exporters and importers. It could have been even better but we are delighted,” Mike Knowles said.
“This outcome has taken many years hard work, most notably over the last few days in Atlanta.
“Our membership comprises most of New Zealand’s largest traders. It is great that the playing field is leveled for us in some markets and new opportunities are created in others. This agreement will help ensure good trade growth for New Zealand.
“The challenge will be to ensure that we have the port, airport, road, rail and coastal shipping infrastructure necessary to support this growth,” he said.
