Conclusion of TPP negotiations
Conclusion of TPP negotiations
The Latin America New Zealand Business Council congratulates the New Zealand Government on the successful conclusion of this historic trade agreement.
Matthew O’Meagher, President of the LANZBC commented:
“This agreement integrates New Zealand and three Latin American nations into the heart of pioneering new trade arrangements linking Asia, Australasia and the Americas. It creates new FTA partnerships with Mexico and Peru, will eliminate tariffs on 93% of exports to those countries, the US, Canada and Japan, and builds on the P4 agreement that united New Zealand and Chile. As a true trans-Pacific deal it promises to be a significant boost to New Zealand’s growing business connections to Latin America’s emerging economies.
“The signing of this agreement is testimony to the tenacity and imagination of Trade Minister Tim Groser, who has long recognised the potential of increased trade with Latin America’s Pacific economies, and to the foresight of the architects of the P4 agreement. We also wish to acknowledge the contribution of the MFAT negotiating team, and we look forward to working with businesses and officials to unlock the benefits of this agreement over the coming years”.
