This Sunday viewers can look forward to a revealing insight into how the country feels about the new political landscape with the first 1 NEWS Colmar Brunton Poll coming out since the Labour-led coalition came to power. Which political party will get an early Christmas present?

“No doubt it will be another fascinating result – and boy we’ve had some of those this year - given the wild ride politics has been in 2017,” says political Editor Corin Dann.

The poll of 1000 eligible voters ushers in a new era for the 1 NEWS Colmar Brunton Poll as it will no longer solely focus on people with landlines.

Now conducted with a 50/50 split of landlines and mobile phones, the change reflects the transformation in New Zealanders communication habits.

It gives a more representative sample of New Zealanders by age and ethnicity, says Dann. “News media have a responsibility to present accurate polls and ensure the methods used are as good as they can possibly be. It’s with that sense of responsibility - as well as a look to the future - that 1 NEWS and Colmar Brunton have decided it is time to change.

“I have no doubt that like its predecessor, the new 1 NEWS Colmar Brunton Poll will quickly establish itself as the gold standard for political polling in this country,” he says.
