Retraction and apology to Dr Rob Beaglehole

Statement by Jordan Williams:
This morning the Taxpayers’ Union reacted to a Newshub story dated today regarding sugar labelling which featured a video of Dr Rob Beaglehole interviewed on the AM Show regarding sugar taxes above the caption: “New Zealand Dental Association spokesperson on sugary drinks Rob Beaglehole talks to The AM Show.”
We thought it highly unusual for Dr Beaglehole, who is now an employed advisor to the Minister of Health to still be in the media lobbying on issues he advises the Government on. We reacted accordingly.
It turns out that, despite the footage being labelled on Newshub’s website as from today, the interview was historic.
Upon discovering the error, I called Dr Beaglehole, have offered my sincere apologies, and informed him that I would be issuing this apology.
Bugger.
