China Trade Mission perfectly timed
The success of Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern’s
inaugural state visit and Hon. David Parker in April to
Beijing has been the impetus for a multi-sector China Trade
Mission confirmed for 9-11 September 2019. The China Chamber
of Commerce in New Zealand (CCCNZ) and New Zealand Trade
Enterprise (NZTE) are organising the Opening Doors to the
West Business Forum as part of a bilateral strategy to help
New Zealand companies take full advantage of the
unprecedented opportunity offered by 2019 China New Zealand
Year of Tourism.
The municipal governments of Chengdu and Xi’an are hosting the Business Forum for businesses, investors and civic leaders in conjunction with CNZYOT, which also marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the PRC. Opening Doors to the West Business Forum aims to boost economic, trade and investment opportunities between New Zealand with these two pivotal powerhouse western Chinese cities.
The event will feature speakers and panelists from both nations in an innovation showcase. Proposed sectors are Culture & Tourism, Agriculture, Investment, Education, IT, Food & beverage.
A Steering Committee has initially been driven by CCCNZ, NZTE, NZ China Council, China Travel Service Group, New Zealand Māori Tourism and Asia New Zealand Foundation with Xi’an Municipal Government and Chengdu Municipal Government supporting the Business Forum, and The Ministry of Culture and Tourism supporting the CNZYOT event. Regional councils as well as more organisations such as BusinessNZ, New Zealand China Trade Association, Employers and Manufacturers Association will join the Working Group to create a dynamic programme for New Zealand exporters and promote the Forum among their respective networks.
There are benefits in joining an official trade mission that opens doors with access to interact with leaders and experts from Chinese local companies and municipal governments to gain a better understanding of the local governments policies on trade and investment. Companies are welcome to attend both forums in Xi’an and Chengdu gaining valuable networking and learning opportunities to leverage business development opportunities among fellow New Zealand exporters.
Information sessions and a pre-departure briefing will be held for exporters to ensure a productive trade mission. A Business Forum package is available which includes flights from Auckland, deluxe accommodation, meals, high speed rail ticket and cultural events for $2,499 or Land Only $1,699. A dedicated website will keep delegates informed of updates with the final programme, https://www.openingdoorstothewest.co.nz/ . –END-
