Tokomaru Shoplifter Banning Praised
Wednesday, 20 October 1999, 11:14 am
Press Release: Libertarianz Party
|
"Libertarianz endorses the actions of Tokomaru store owner
Peter Wilson in banning an 8 year old boy for stealing a
chocolate bar, and deplores 'snivel libertarian' Barry
Wilson's simpering comments," says Libertarianz spokesman
Peter Cresswell this morning.
"The store owner's actions
are entirely correct in the circumstances, protecting his
property while demonstrating to the youngster that theft
will not be condoned."
"I find it incredible that Barry
Wilson is reported as calling the banning 'unfair and
distasteful'," says Cresswell. What is truly distasteful is
his organisation's liberal hand wringing when it comes to
criminal dishonesty."
"He gives libertarians a bad
name!"

Gordon Campbell: On the Sony cyber attack
Given the layers of meta-irony involved, the saga of the Sony cyber attack seemed at the outset more like a snarky European art film than a popcorn entry at the multiplex.
Yet now with (a) President Barack Obama weighing in on the side of artistic freedom and calling for the US to make a ‘proportionate response’quickly followed by (b) North Korea’s entire Internet service going down, and with both these events being followed by (c) Sony deciding to backtrack and release The Interview film that had made it a target for the dastardly North Koreans in the first place, then ay caramba…the whole world will now be watching how this affair pans out.
