Nats Panic Over Collapsing Rural Vote

Libertarianz Deputy Leader Richard McGrath today questioned the National Party's use of other people's money to support the lifestyles of rural general practitioners. "These doctors have chosen a relatively isolated working environment by free choice. They don't need rescuing by slimy politicians in dark suits."

Dr McGrath urges his colleagues to reject political interference in their businesses. "National are running scared. They've already lost much of the rural vote because of the Resource Management Abomination, and even more after folding without a fight to the anti-gun zealots. Hatching this scheme three weeks out from an election is a shameless and utterly contemptible tactic by the Nats to try and buy these votes back."

"Financial and other incentives for attracting doctors into rural practices should come from the medical profession itself, and from the communities where there is a demand for doctors," said McGrath, "not from Nanny State in the form of a big fat election bribe."
