SOT unveils and joins Linux International

Technology Center Hermia, Tampere, Finland - September 1, 2000

SOT, publisher of the #1 Linux in Finland - the home country of Linux and Linus - has today unveiled their new Best Linux developers' site, and joined Linux International as a sponsoring corporate member.

"The last T-1 beta program was a global success in 1999. We had over 3200 beta testers. The unveiling today of new developer site takes us to the next level, where we are sharing our internal specifications with the Linux community. This is probably the first time ever any commercially operated company has gone beyond open source and started making wide open development. I also want to thank all the volunteers, without whose endless effort the review success would not have been possible." commented Mr. Santeri Kannisto, CTO, SOT. He has also taken a seat on the board of directors at Linux International.

SOT's Linux Distribution, called Best Linux, is built to be an easy-to-use, reliable and secure solution for desktop users who want to fully utilize the power of the Linux operating system.

"It appears to be extremely stable, and is very well suited for typical home user. I would definitely recommend it for new users, as well as for experienced Linux experts.", part of Linuxberg/Tucows' review of Best Linux 2000.

The current version of SOT's Linux distribution is Best Linux 2000, which recently received a full 5-penguin rating in a Linuxberg/Tucows review. SOT is fully committed to continue making Linux easier for desktops - and a real challenger for the currently dominant OS.

About Linux

Linux is a virus-free, co-operatively developed operating system used worldwide. It was started by Mr. Linus Torvalds in Finland in 1991. Applications of Linux vary from desktop use to fully functional UNIX workstations and Internet servers. The difference between Linux and other operating systems is that Linux is open source software.
