Nominations Open For New Technology Commendations
Nominations Still Open For New Technology Commendations - Media Statement
New Zealand's innovative businesses still have time to submit their nominations for the Technology Commendations.
The Technology Commendations recognise and celebrate companies that have grown their business and benefited the economy through the successful, commercial adoption of innovative technology. An initiative by the Foundation for Research, Science and Technology, the Commendations are now in their second round.
"These awards promote the link between innovative technology and commercial success we hope they will encourage businesses to adopt innovative technology," said Gowan Pickering, interim Chief Executive of the Foundation for Research, Science and Technology.
"So far we have had a very positive response from New Zealand businesses."
Enquiries have come from around the country, from businesses whose activities range from sports goods and marketing to forestry and horticulture. "The nomination and evaluation procedure is straightforward. We want nominations from innovative companies in all fields, not just from companies where the Foundation has provided financial or other assistance," Mr Pickering said.
"Any commercial organisation or company with a significant New Zealand presence, whose operations benefit the New Zealand economy, is eligible to apply for a Commendation. However, to be considered for a Commendation, they have to demonstrate the link between their commercial success and the adoption of innovative technology."
Companies themselves can make an application, or can be nominated by other businesses or individuals, providing the nominated company's chief executive signs the nomination form.
The Foundation will continue to accept nominations until March 23rd.
