New Manager Appointed

Press Release: Foundation for Research Science and Technology

Dr John Smart has just joined the Foundation For Research Science and Technology as its Group Manager, Portfolio Management. This is a new position that has been established as part of the restructuring of the organisation.

The Portfolio Investments Division is responsible for reviewing and developing portfolios of research, science and technology that provides the strategic direction for the Foundation’s future funding investments.

Dr Smart has a Master of Management from Victoria University and a PhD in Biochemistry from Massey University. Prior to joining the Foundation, Dr Smart has held various research management positions within the Dairy Industry.

Sky City : Auckland Convention Centre Cost Jumps By A Fifth

SkyCity Entertainment Group, the casino and hotel operator, is in talks with the government on how to fund the increased cost of as much as $130 million to build an international convention centre in downtown Auckland, with further gambling concessions ruled out. The Auckland-based company has increased its estimate to build the centre to between $470 million and $530 million as the construction boom across the country drives up building costs and design changes add to the bill.
