(e)-vision Digital Media Centre for Communication Art and Technology Announces a new event for New Zealand
(e)-vision is New Zealand's first digital media centre for communication art and technology. At the heart of its activities is e-literacy; being fluid, confident and creative with new media technologies.
(e)-vision is pleased to announce its new Digital Storytelling programme, an exciting new event produced by (e)-vision to generate and facilitate the production of digital stories. The Digital Storytelling programme emphasises discovering and developing peoples' stories and unique perspectives - content is paramount; the technology the tool to facilitate the process.
The Digital Storytelling programme is offered at three levels: Foundation, Advanced and a Master Class.
The Foundation Course 8 and 9 September Tutors Philippa Campbell and Jon Harcourt Assisted by Kris Bieringa
This course is designed for anyone wanting to get ahead with producing and presenting new digital stories. It will appeal to students, teachers, artists, businesses and those with a personal interest. The principles of storytelling are taught including scripting and storyboard development.
Using scripts and images a 2-3 minute digital story is built by each participant and shown to the class as the final product. A flexible video editing software (1 video/3 audio tracks) is used in the workshop. Average computer literacy is required. Class tuition in the software is provided plus one-on-one assistance with specific projects.
(e)-vision believes that these new tools are helping or perhaps even forcing writers and artists to think outside the realm of traditional linear narrative. For the Foundation Course participants are introduced to storytelling methodology, point of view, emotional content, and economy and pacing. Every aspect of storytelling, structure, plot, character, pace, voice, timing, and setting, has the potential to be morphed by digital contact.
A three day Advanced Course will follow the Foundation Course, and over the summer a five day Master Class, in which participants will produce a 10-15 minute digital story, will be held at (e)-vision.
