PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Nelson, New Zealand
19 January 2004 - www.PortFocus.co.nz

Don't be a dipper; wear your flippers!-Boogie board surf safety promotion launched.

Publishers of www.PortFocus.co.nz have launched a campaign about the need for children to always wear flippers when they use their boogie board in the surf.

Launched today The "don't be a dipper; always wear your flippers" is a light hearted campaign designed to encourage children to always wear flippers when using their boogie boards in the surf.

"We hope that kids will take the message to heart, swim between the flags, keep a caregiver close to them when they swim and always wear flippers when they use their boogie board in the sea" said Port Focus Editor Liam Butler.

The poster, animated gif, and coloring competition are available for anyone to use free of charge. www.PortFocus.co.nz hope the campaign will reduce the number of children who get into trouble by not having the strength to swim back to shore.

"Flippers are no alternative for swimming between the flags and parental supervision but they do help reduce the chance of children getting too tired to get safely back into shore if they get in to difficulty" said Mr. Butler.

Copies of the Poster, coloring competition and animated gif can be downloaded copyright free at www.PortFocus.co.nz
