iVistra Launches a Live Virtual Dashboard for Business

One of New Zealand’s leading entrepreneurs in multi-media this week launched an innovative software application for business, called Enterprise Visibility System (EVS) that can reproduce an entire business operation in a live virtual environment.

Auckland, NZ: Craig Meek, the former co-founder of Virtual Spectator who was instrumental in the development of the first online real-time 3D graphics for the America’s Cup, has developed the first ‘virtual dashboard’ for business.

According to Craig Meek, CEO of iVistra, EVS turns data into pictures so a business can see its entire operation in real-time; get the right information in the right place at the right time; increase asset utilisation and improve its operating efficiency.

“EVS takes tracking to a new level”, says Craig Meek. “As well as mapping the location of moving assets, EVS integrates positional data with operational and financial information to give complete visibility of key performance indicators. This technology takes live tracking to a new level of sophistication and mobility.”

The new visualisation application from iVistra, which uses the Vodafone GPRS network, has been designed to enable a business to get mobile, giving user’s access via a range of devices like laptops, PDA’s and smart phones.

“EVS puts real-time visual information at the fingertips of key decision-makers across all levels of an organisation. It is the new dashboard for any business with mobile assets or networked infrastructure,” says Craig Meek.

EVS was piloted at Tranz Link, one of three main business units under Tranz Rail Holdings and the country’s largest mover of dry, frozen and chilled goods around New Zealand. The transport giant uses EVS to: display their national fleet position in real-time; visualise utilisation requirements; manage pickup and delivery; configure alerts for defined problems; improve asset utilisation and operating efficiency; remove excess assets; increase planning time and improve communications between staff and customers.

“iVistra demonstrates how the recent advancements in technologies give a new level of performance visibility,” says Greg Miller, Group General Manager Tranz Link. “EVS lets us have complete operational and financial asset management at our fingertips.”

EVS has been designed as a business tool for a variety of businesses across a range of industries, including transport, utilities, forestry, manufacturing and defence. Its launch was proudly supported by technology leaders, HP, Vodafone and Panasonic.

EVS is based on an annual licensing model that also covers software upgrades. As well as some initial set-up costs, EVS has a competitive monitoring charge that is a fixed cost, based on the number of items/units being tracked.

How EVS Works:
1: EVS tracks moving items in real-time from a range of tracking systems.

2: EVS integrates positional data with appropriate mapping geography to give the exact location of the tracked item.

3: EVS then layers live tracking data with financial and operating information from the business to give complete visibility of key performance indicators like utilisation, efficiency and profitability.

4: EVS can be accessed from a range of locations via a variety of devices and displays.
