Mazda joins the event

Mazda New Zealand has joined the growing list of local new car distributors participating in EnergyWise Rally 2004, with the entry of a Mazda6 Sporthatch Limited, to be driven by publishing and motorsport media identity Gavin Shaw.

The Mazda6 will compete in the medium / executive car class against the Peugeot 407 and Honda Accord Euro, in what promises to be a hotly-contested category.

EnergyWise Rally 2004 is a demonstration of the fuel efficency and environmental responsibility of today’s new cars. Negotiating a challenging selection of North Island roads, the drivers will be required to maintain the 100 km’h speed limit whenever safe and practicable, providing a meaningful measure of what the vehicles are capable of under real-world operating conditions.

Sky City : Auckland Convention Centre Cost Jumps By A Fifth

SkyCity Entertainment Group, the casino and hotel operator, is in talks with the government on how to fund the increased cost of as much as $130 million to build an international convention centre in downtown Auckland, with further gambling concessions ruled out.
