Water Look-A-Like Fights Fire Without Damaging Property

A photo of the new Wormald Sapphire product on display at the Fire Protection Conference this week.

It is a new fire suppression agent which completely eliminates fire-related damage, ie water or chemical damage to computers, electronics, books, artwork and the like. It's a great breakthrough for the use in offices, galleries, computer and electrical switch rooms, museums and libraries.

This week Wormald demonstrated the product at the Fire Conference, and it's was the first time the product had been seen in New Zealand.

A laptop can be immersed in Sapphire and it will come out dry and undamaged! Same with a cellphone - in fact, we dialed up the cell phone and saw it ringing. The liquid is environmentally friendly; it evaporates with no ozone damage.

As you can see in this photo we have immersed a television and my cell phone into a tank full of the liquid.

Cliff Mears Auckland Fire Area Commander said, when viewing the product, "From the Fire Service's point of view we always want to minimise the amount of damage from fire and if that's from water damage or from smoke then any product that comes along that is safe to use has got to be better."
