SKY TELEVISION SIGNS DEAL WITH BLOCKBUSTER NZ

New Website For Online DVD Business, http://www.dvdunlimited.co.nz, Launched

SKY Television announced today that it has signed a product purchasing agreement with Blockbuster NZ. Under the terms of the agreement, SKY will source product for its newly launched online DVD movie rental business, DVD Unlimited, through Blockbuster NZ.

According to Steve Dods, Master Franchisee, Blockbuster NZ the agreement further strengthens an existing relationship with SKY Television. "We have had a good relationship with SKY Television for a number of years. We envisage this latest venture will be mutually beneficial to both companies," he says.

"The agreement not only enables SKY to source its product through Blockbuster NZ but allows SKY to utilise their industry expertise and intelligence. We are now one step closer to realising our future goal of 'video on demand'," comments John Fellet, SKY Television Chief Executive.

Earlier this month, SKY Television successfully acquired the assets of New Zealand's first online DVD movie rental business, DVD Unlimited. SKY runs the online DVD subscription service from Auckland where it plans to operate the largest DVD library in New Zealand. DVD Unlimited customers do not need to first join SKY TV to enjoy home delivered DVD's.

John Fellet says SKY has made a significant investment in the business. "In addition to purchasing thousands of additional DVDs, we've also added some great features to the DVD Unlimited website. Customers can now search the comprehensive range of titles, read or post movie ratings and reviews, as well as access expert picks. Utilising individual ratings we can also learn what each customer likes and offer personalised recommendations," he says.
