OKTA Touches Down In NZ

Telecom revealed today New Zealand’s first TouchFLO™ mobile phone, the keyless mobile that signals how New Zealanders are likely to use mobiles in the future.

The OKTA Touch combines a mobile phone, laptop, camera, MP3 player, email and internet connection in a single device and allows users to manage all aspects by simply moving their finger across the screen.

“Most New Zealanders won’t have seen anything like this before – from listening to music to checking a Facebook page, it’s now all possible on the move with this device,” said Telecom’s GM of Consumer Marketing, David Craig.

Mr Craig said the OKTA Touch is also the first mobile in New Zealand to launch with Windows Mobile® 6 and is a particularly important addition to Telecom’s range given the buzz overseas around ‘all-in-one’ touch screen devices.

“When we were looking at which of the devices in this genre to bring to New Zealand we looked for something stylish yet user-friendly, pocket sized and affordable with freedom for personalisation,” he said

The OKTA Touch also provides great multimedia capability with a 2 mega pixel camera, video capability, MP3 music player, stereo Bluetooth® and external memory card capability.

Having a Windows Mobile 6 operating system means the OKTA Touch brings the functions normally associated only with a PC to a mobile, including: e-mail, automatic synchronisation with an Outlook calendar, and the ability to edit Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents and open attachments at the tap of a finger.

The OKTA Touch is available from 8 November from Telecom stores and dealers and will be priced at $799.

The OKTA Touch is the one of three devices being launched under the new mobile phone brand, OKTA.

The OKTA range, consisting initially of the OKTA Touch, the OKTA Agent and the OKTA Boss, is sourced from a range of international manufacturers and will complement Telecom’s extensive range of global brands.
