A Mostly Fine And Settled Week

MetService News Release
22 Jan 2013

A Mostly Fine And Settled Week

One high is expected to replace another, bringing mostly fine and settled weather to much of New Zealand over the next several days.

MetService Media and Communications Meteorologist Daniel Corbett commented,"This will make a welcome change from the active troughs over the past few weeks."

"Warm northwesterlies will return in the east from Central Hawke's Bay to Canterbury for a while, pushing the mercury into the high twenties and possibly the low thirties for some inland places," added Corbett.

A cold front is expected to slide up the country during Wednesday and Thursday, bringing a brief spell of heavy rain to the West Coast and showers in the east. This front should weaken when it reaches the North Island on Thursday.

Further afield in the tropics, Tropical Cyclone "Garry" is intensifying between Samoa and Tokelau and is expected to move eastward towards the Cook Islands. For further updates watch the daily Pacific Weather Update on MetService TV.
