Settled over New Zealand but tropics
active
Although the expected weather across New Zealand over the next few days looks set to continue settled and mostly dry, forecasters at MetService are keeping a watchful eye on the activity in the tropics.
MetService Media and Communications Meteorologist Daniel Corbett commented "Tropical Cyclone Sandra formed last week over the warm waters of the Coral Sea and is currently tracking towards New Caledonia." Corbett continued "It is still too early to tell whether Sandra will have any impact on us here in New Zealand, but we are closely monitoring the situation and expect to get a clearer picture of the cyclone's path around the middle of the week"
At the moment the Fiji Meteorological Service is responsible for providing the official high seas forecasts and warnings for Sandra so for the latest position and forecast track head to www.met.gov.fj. As the system moves south of 25 south latitude, which is expected later Wednesday, MetService will take over the responsibility for providing these forecasts and warnings. In the meantime, the MetService TV Pacific Show will also keep you updated with all the latest news. http://metservice.com/tv/index
