Patchy wet weather this week

A couple of different weather systems are at play this week,making it a wise move to keep the rain coats handy even though not a lot of rain is expected.

MetService Media and Communications Meteorologist Daniel Corbett commented,"The wet weather will be patchy this week, with some rain across parts of the North Island during the first half of the week, and then another spell of rain spreading in from the west later this week."

A slow-moving area of low pressure will remain just to the east of the North Island until midweek, bringing outbreaks of rain or drizzle across eastern and northern parts of the North Island.

Elsewhere it will be a typical mix of morning cloud and patchy fog, along with mostly dry and fine spells.

Another trough will feed an area of rain across the west of the South Island by Wednesday afternoon. This rain should spread to some other parts of the country by Friday morning.

The same trough may spoil the mostly dry spell expected for National Fieldays at Mystery Creek, near Hamilton, by bringing the odd shower for the end of the week. MetService will be at Fieldays as always, in the main pavilion.
