Six Auckland high school students have taken home Auckland Council-sponsored prizes at this year’s NIWA Auckland City Science and Technology Fair held on Monday.

The six winning students of the Auckland Council awards (listed below) each took home a prize of $150, while one student won the chance to spend the day with an Auckland Council scientist.
Greg Holland, Manager of Auckland Council’s Research, Investigations and Monitoring Unit says, “We’re proud to be a part of the NIWA Auckland City Science and Technology Fair, which celebrates excellence in scientific and technological investigation among school students. The awards help to targes the Auckland Plan’s aim to accelerate the prospects of our children and young people.”
Mr Holland says the fair helps young people gain knowledge of science and technology process, as well as help them develop critical thinking skills that can be utilised in their daily life.
