Waikato to Host 2011 NZ Age Group Championships U17 next week

Hamilton City Netball Centre will host thirty-two teams, 380 players, 100 coaches and managers, 32 umpires and 50 volunteers and officials in what is Netball New Zealand’s largest event on the national calendar, the NZ U17 Age Group Championships.

Players from all over the nation will unite to compete for top honours in the country’s most exciting Netball event for young talent. Netball New Zealand Emerging Talent selectors will be attending the event, looking for the nations upcoming players.

Tracey Fear, NNZ’s High Performance Director says this event is valuable in the development of young players “the Age Group Championships play an instrumental role in assisting us in identifying new talent coming through the ranks,” she said.

“It’s exciting to watch how players at this level handle playing against those of their age group from around New Zealand, sometimes for the first time in their playing career.”

The competition runs from Monday 25th – Thursday 28th July. The full draw and results are available at www.mynetball.co.nz, the website and social media channels will be updated at the conclusion of each match.
