Wakeboarder Mike Dowdy Jumps On Board the Polaroid Team

Professional Wakeboarder Mike Dowdy Jumps On Board the Polaroid Action Team!

Ridgefield Park, N.J. – - Polaroid, the 75-year-old brand synonymous with instant imaging, sharing and fun, adds another world class athlete to its Polaroid Action team to promote the new line of mountable hi-definition sports action cameras. Professional Wakeboarder Mike Dowdy is the newest addition to the Polaroid Action team, joining wakeboarder Noah Flegel and wakesurfer Keenan Flegel.

“We are thrilled to welcome Mike Dowdy to our team of world class action sports athletes,” said Scott W. Hardy, President and CEO of Polaroid. “The Polaroid Action team was created to support up and coming athletes such as Mike while showcasing our line of high-performance and affordable hi-definition sports video cameras. Polaroid and action sports are a perfect fit and Mike Dowdy is a perfect addition to our team.”

2012 Junior Pro Champion

Mike burst onto the pro wakeboarding scene in 2012 when he was named 2012 Wakegames Jr. Pro Men’s Champion and 2012 Jr. Pro Men’s Master's Champion. Starting the 2013 season off strong, Mike has placed in the top five at every Pro Wakeboard Tour stop to date and was the Transworld Wake Magazine’s April cover athlete.

Wakeboarding piqued Mike’s interest at the early age of eight, when he was waterskiing with his family and saw wakeboarders on the lake. Deciding to give it a try, he signed up for lessons given by wakeboard pro Gerry Nunn and world champion Shaun Murray. He’s been hooked ever since. Now at 19, Mike Dowdy is also an avid skateboarder and traveler, having been around the globe to places such as Australia, Abu Dhabi and Panama.

“I’m honored to join the Polaroid Action Team,” commented Mike Dowdy. “I’ve had the opportunity to test out the Polaroid action cameras and was really impressed with how easy they are to use and the clarity at which the footage comes out. They made joining the team an easy decision.”

Polaroid Action Official Action Camera of King of Wake

The Polaroid Action team is also the official action camera sponsor of the 2013 King of Wake series, the world’s most prestigious pro wakeboarding series. With eight stops throughout the United States this summer, the Polaroid Action team will be on hand giving out free tickets, and spectators can meet Mike Dowdy and the Flegel brothers as well as qualify for autographed shirts, pictures and even cameras.
