Tennis Stars And Celebrities Enjoy ‘Glam Slam’ Official Player Party at Sofitel Melbourne on Collins

To celebrate its new partnership with Tennis Australia, AccorHotels hosted the 2016 Official Player Party at Sofitel Melbourne on Collins last night (15 January 2016). AccorHotels Australia Official Ambassador Serena Williams made an appearance alongside other tennis legends Boris Becker, Novak Djokovic, Dustin Brown, Sam Groth, Andreas Seppi and Heather Watson.

Players enjoyed an intimate welcome dinner in Sofitel’s spectacular No35 Restaurant, located on the 35th floor of the hotel, before joining the exclusive ‘Alice in Wonderland’ themed party in the luxurious Club Lounge.

The evening saw a star-studded line-up with celebrities including Josh Gibson and Trent Cotchin in attendance alongside former Miss Universe Australia Tegan Martin, keeping the excitement alive throughout the night while the Champagne, cocktails and canapés flowed freely.

“We would like to thank AccorHotels for hosting the Official Australian Open Player Party,” said Richard Heaselgrave, Commercial Director Tennis Australia. “It’s a great opportunity for the players to catch up and relax in the lead up to what is a very exciting two weeks of tennis.”

With over 300 guests joining the event, acrobatic performances and balancing acts took place throughout the night with Alice in Wonderland characters working the room.

“We were thrilled to welcome Serena Williams and the other tennis stars to the luxurious Sofitel Melbourne on Collins and honoured to host this important event for Australian Open,” said Graham Wilson, AccorHotels’ Chief Marketing & Distribution Officer Asia Pacific. “We hope the party has set the tone for the tournament and are looking forward to providing support services to enhance the customer experience at Melbourne Park for the course of the event.”

AccorHotels is an Official Partner of the Australian Open, with Serena Williams its Official Ambassador in Australia.

AccorHotels is the largest hotel operator in Australia, with 200 hotels including over 30 in Victoria alone and more than 680 across Asia Pacific.
