(SBU) On April 25, Poloff met with MFA International Organizations
Department officer Nguyen Thi Van Anh to discuss reftel points about
USG priorities at the upcoming NPT Preparatory Committee and
delivered a non-paper on the subject. Anh said the GVN supports
existing NPT mechanisms and advocates maintaining a balance between
its nonproliferation and disarmament goals. The GVN would like to
see participants reach a consensus at the 2010 NPT Review
Conference. Vietnam's Embassy in Vienna will cover the prepcom
event, she added. Anh pledged to convey the USG position to MFA
leadership and to the Vietnamese Embassy in Vienna.
