HIGH-LEVEL ATTENDANCE AND REQUESTS FOR MEETINGS

1. (SBU) On July 24, the Ambassador delivered reftel demarche
to Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director General Ambassador
Umaru Wurie. Sierra Leone will hold its presidential election
on August 11. The official result from the election is
expected on August 23. If no presidential candidate receives
55 percent of the vote, there will be a runoff election on or
around September 8. Post will provide updates and continue to
inquire about possible attendees once the new president has
been announced.

2. (SBU) MFA Permanent Secretary Andrew Bangali, who also
attended the meeting, indicated that he expects to be part of
the delegation regardless of who wins the presidential
election. Post will provide more specific travel information
for Mr. Bangali septel.
