(U) On August 3, we delivered reftel points and a
diplomatic note to Minna-Liina Lind, MFA UN Desk
Officer, in support of Ms. Fice Gaer's re-election on
the UN Committee against Torture. In an August 16
meeting with Ms. Lind, she thanked us for the
information on Ms. Gaer and informed us that while the
Government of Estonia (GOE) is giving careful
consideration of Ms Gaer's candidacy, the GOE will not
make a decision until closer to the election.
