RESOLUTION ON DE-ALERTING OF NUCLEAR FORCES

(SBU) On October 10, Polecoff delivered reftel points to
Veikko Kala, Attache, in the MFA's International
Organizations and Regional Cooperation Division. Kala
said he was unable to offer a response to the U.S.
points at the moment, but would deliver the message to
the First Committee members representing Estonia in New
York. Kala commented that there is likely to be a
discussion between the EU's non-nuclear and nuclear
states concerning this resolution. At the same time,
Kala gave assurances that the Government of Estonia
(GOE) will take into account U.S. concerns related to
this matter.
